#hearmeout: Grace Chen, National Parks Board

I get satisfaction knowing that everything ties together to make a real difference in Singaporeans’ lives.
Grace Chen, Manager, Communications and Community Engagement, National Parks Board

My work at the National Parks Board involves handling the media and events. It’s a refreshing role for me because I get a wide spectrum of exposure: I get to answer media queries on fallen trees, tortoises in ponds and the feeding of pigeons; facilitate interviews for both local and foreign media; and even organise concerts and carnivals in our parks for SG50.

One thing that impresses me is the deep passion I see in my colleagues. Their genuine care for and deep knowledge of the flora, fauna and biodiversity that we have in Singapore is amazing – they can identify a bird’s species just by listening to its chirps! Although each area of our work at NParks is different, I get satisfaction knowing that everything ties together to make a real difference in Singaporeans’ lives.
