Working at home can be distracting. Constantly itching to watch funny videos, check your social media accounts or read the latest news? To stay focused, if using your personal computer, you can install these tools.


A time-management application based on the Pomodoro Technique with the premise that frequent breaks improves mental agility. It forces you to concentrate on a single task for 25 minutes before taking a five-minute break.


A stripped-down word processor with a minimalistic interface. The free application has the usual text editor features such as spellcheck and word count, and supports multiple file types such as TXT and basic ODT.


Blocks those distracting social media websites. You can customise the length of time you use the tool from 15 minutes to eight hours.


Forces you to go offline completely by blocking your Internet. You can specify the amount of offline time you want. To get back online before time is up, you’ll need to reboot your computer.
