#hearmeout May 2014 - Casie Eng

One thing I love about my job is that it doesn’t feel distant. Getting fellow Singaporeans to love Singapore and be proud of our homeland (that’s what I do!) is something close to my heart. Just like rallying friends to share your hobby or passion, you’d do it naturally. I believe many public officers share the view that being in the Service adds special meaning to our jobs: we are directly involved in issues or areas that we, as Singaporeans, have a stake in. The Public Service is like a big family with different members (i.e., agencies) playing diverse roles. As with every family unit, communication is no less important in the Public Service. I think there can be better communication among public agencies, especially in our current climate of rising expectations from a more knowledgeable and well-informed citizenry.
