The Sports Hub could have special trekking routes on the dome, similar to the trek up the Sydney Harbour Bridge, for both Singaporeans and tourists to do a one-of-a-kind aerial walking tour on the stadium roof. The Sports Hub is full of great locations and fantastic photo views that would make any photo shoot extraordinary. If I had the opportunity to re-take my wedding pictures at the Sports Hub, I would!

Congratulations, Paul! We’re sending you four tickets worth $100 in total to the Alive Museum, so you and your loved ones can have fun taking photos and seeing things from different perspectives. Enjoy!

A few years ago, Singapore hosted a fireworks competition around the Esplanade Bay, with entries from various countries. The event was very well received, but due to the limited standing space, it was a human- and vehicle-traffic nightmare. The Sports Hub would be an ideal location to hold this competition again. With the stadium having a seating capacity of 55,000, more people would be able to admire the fireworks display. Also, the turf could be opened up for attendees to lie back and look up in the sky. Portions of the roof could also be opened to let photography buffs station their tripods. Carnival stalls could also be set up on the track around the turf.

I would love to see an event where families can get together for a mass pyjama party! Everyone can get together for some old-fashioned fun, like storytelling and simple board games. You can snuggle up in sleeping bags on the field as the retractable roof opens and reveals the wonders of the night sky. Imagine sleeping under the stars with your loved ones!

Could we organise a sports carnival for our foreign workers at the Sports Hub, which would not have materialised without their tough labour? Could some of our athletes, national or combined schools teams, mingle with the people who built the training and competition facilities? I have faith that enough Singaporeans will support this spiritedly.

We used to have line dancing and folk dancing along Orchard Road during Christmas. The road would be closed in the evening and it was always spectacular to dance under the festive lights. We even had line dancers from Malaysia and Indonesia flying in to participate! It would be good to have a big place like the Sports Hub holding an annual dance event for the popular sports of line dance, folk dance and Zumba. Dancers will be protected from the sun and rain, unlike at Orchard Road. Dancing is a healthy sport and usually involves the whole family and their friends, so kids, adults and elders can all participate and interact with one another.

How about a vertical challenge around the new Sports Hub? It can be a personal endurance and timed challenge for people to climb up and down each segment of the Sports Hub, just like a vertical marathon. For a competitive segment, the winner will be the one who does it in the shortest time. For the leisure mass exercise segment, people can do a walk-through, so there is something for everyone. It will be a nice way to get to know the stadium inside out, as well as complete a great fitness challenge! At the end of the event, perhaps there can be a carnival at the centre of the stadium, or outside, at the stadium car park.

There is no replacement for the roar of a stadium during live sports events. Japan has used 3-D hologram projection technology to project live sports events so that spectators at home can feel the stadium atmosphere. For the Singapore Sports Hub, besides live sports, I would suggest hosting the gala premiere of a blockbuster movie via a huge 3-D hologram projection on the pitch. The stadium is perfect for a blockbuster movie experience.

To build the kampung spirit as part of the Singapore Kindness Movement, why not have a mass picnic at the Singapore Sports Hub? People can be organised to sit according to their own constituencies on the field. Everyone who signs up can bring their own food for sharing. Some food stalls (like pasar malam types) can be set up around the perimeter of the field as part of this mega picnic, so participants can buy the food and eat on the field. This will promote sharing and provide opportunities for people to get to know one another. Even better, they can be grouped by the blocks they live in, so that they can get to know their neighbours.

My idea is for the Sports Hub to have the biggest treasure hunt of the year! Props can be set up with many items hidden around the many corners of the Sports Hub. Given the venue’s spaciousness, it won’t be easy to locate the items and this will create a lot of fun and excitement on its grounds. To spice things up, there can be booths set up during the event to introduce the various sports and activities that one can do at the Sports Hub. Such a massive event will not only bring all ages to the Sports Hub, but also get them to mingle around.
